One of the best books I have read all year. At first I didn’t like all the different character perspectives but it really helped to tell and enhance the story. Especially once the action picked up. I cried, laughed, and was blown away. So many surprises so many twists. It’s a mystery, an action thriller, a journey of friendship and fighting depression. This may be my favorite work by SM.

So blown away....

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

Wow. This book far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t stand Bryce at the beginning, but her reading her story and person unfold was beyond amazing. Hunt was my favorite from the beginning. I hope we get more of his story in the following books since the book ended bringing it up his father. ANYWAYS, great book. It starts off a bit slow but man does it make up for it afterwards. You will not be disappointed! Hang in there reader.

If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. And as someone who isn’t a big lovey dovey Romance fan I can say that this romance was well earned, but I truly don’t think this is a romance book. No this book is a love letter to the amazing love bond of friendship. What a wonderful emotional trip this book will take you on. Safe travels.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

This book is stunning. it has love, fantasy, adventure, mystery, crime, friendship and magic. I cried and laughed and everything in between. There is definitely some steamy content but hey its SJM first adult book and she went full send. it was hot and the characters were so well developed.the story line was dexhilerating and original. Just Push Through

Maas is my favorite. Might be a bold statement but I’m ok with that. Nevertheless, this book doesn’t catch you as quickly as the others. I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

Having just finished the Court of Thorns and Roses series, I went right into this. So good. Couldn’t put it down. My family complained for the 4 days it took me to finish that they were tired of being ignored. I didn’t care.

I expected so much more

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

Possibly Maas’s best!

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

I’ve never ever been moved to tears by a book, and I certainly never expected a book about shape shifters, angels, and fae to be the one to do it. But it just goes to show the true amount of love that she poured into this book. The coming installments of this series will be HEAVILY anticipated.

This was an incredible read. I enjoyed every second. The characters are lovable, the dialogue has you constantly laughing, and there are many plot-twists you didn’t see coming. Maas did it again, I would highly recommend ❤️

I expected so much more

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

Possibly Maas’s best!

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

I’ve read every single one of Sarah J Maas’ works of art (because that’s what her books are; art) and it’s still easy for me to say that is her best work yet. I’ve never ever been moved to tears by a book, and I certainly never expected a book about shape shifters, angels, and fae to be the one to do it. One of the best books I have read all year. At first I didn’t like all the different character perspectives but it really helped to tell and enhance the story. Especially once the action picked up. I cried, laughed, and was blown away. So many surprises so many twists. It’s a mystery, an action thriller, a journey of friendship and fighting depression. This may be my favorite work by SM.

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

Wow. This book far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t stand Bryce at the beginning, but her reading her story and person unfold was beyond amazing. Hunt was my favorite from the beginning. I hope we get more of his story in the following books since the book ended bringing it up his father. ANYWAYS, great book. It starts off a bit slow but man does it make up for it afterwards. If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. And as someone who isn’t a big lovey dovey Romance fan I can say that this romance was well earned, but I truly don’t think this is a romance book. No this book is a love letter to the amazing love bond of friendship. What a wonderful emotional trip this book will take you on. Safe travels.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

There is definitely some steamy content but hey its SJM first adult book and she went full send. it was hot and the characters were so well developed.the story line was dexhilerating and original. Just Push Through

Maas is my favorite. Might be a bold statement but I’m ok with that. Nevertheless, this book doesn’t catch you as quickly as the others. I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

One of my favorite books

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

Always good but not her best

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

One of my favorite books

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

Possibly Maas’s best!

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. And as someone who isn’t a big lovey dovey Romance fan I can say that this romance was well earned, but I truly don’t think this is a romance book. No this book is a love letter to the amazing love bond of friendship. What a wonderful emotional trip this book will take you on. Safe travels.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

There is definitely some steamy content but hey its SJM first adult book and she went full send. it was hot and the characters were so well developed.the story line was dexhilerating and original. Maas is my favorite. Might be a bold statement but I’m ok with that. Nevertheless, this book doesn’t catch you as quickly as the others. I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

One of my favorite books

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

Wow. This book far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t stand Bryce at the beginning, but her reading her story and person unfold was beyond amazing. Hunt was my favorite from the beginning. I hope we get more of his story in the following books since the book ended bringing it up his father. ANYWAYS, great book. It starts off a bit slow but man does it make up for it afterwards. If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. One of the best books I have read all year. At first I didn’t like all the different character perspectives but it really helped to tell and enhance the story. Especially once the action picked up. I cried, laughed, and was blown away. So many surprises so many twists. It’s a mystery, an action thriller, a journey of friendship and fighting depression. This may be my favorite work by SM.

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

Wow. This book far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t stand Bryce at the beginning, but her reading her story and person unfold was beyond amazing. Hunt was my favorite from the beginning. I hope we get more of his story in the following books since the book ended bringing it up his father. ANYWAYS, great book. It starts off a bit slow but man does it make up for it afterwards. You will not be disappointed! Hang in there reader.

If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. And as someone who isn’t a big lovey dovey Romance fan I can say that this romance was well earned, but I truly don’t think this is a romance book. No this book is a love letter to the amazing love bond of friendship. What a wonderful emotional trip this book will take you on. Safe travels.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

There is definitely some steamy content but hey its SJM first adult book and she went full send. it was hot and the characters were so well developed.the story line was dexhilerating and original. Just Push Through

Maas is my favorite. Might be a bold statement but I’m ok with that. Nevertheless, this book doesn’t catch you as quickly as the others. I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

I’ve read every single one of Sarah J Maas’ works of art (because that’s what her books are; art) and it’s still easy for me to say that is her best work yet. I’ve never ever been moved to tears by a book, and I certainly never expected a book about shape shifters, angels, and fae to be the one to do it. But it just goes to show the true amount of love that she poured into this book. The coming installments of this series will be HEAVILY anticipated.

One of the best books I have read all year. At first I didn’t like all the different character perspectives but it really helped to tell and enhance the story. Especially once the action picked up. I cried, laughed, and was blown away. So many surprises so many twists. It’s a mystery, an action thriller, a journey of friendship and fighting depression. This may be my favorite work by SM.

I laughed, I cried...I was clinching my jaws at the end trying to stave my anxiety. It’s such a page turner!! Per the previous rating, there IS a lot of information dropped, but it’s only partially revealed information in the beginning. As you read, it unfolds and starts to make more sense. I did have to revert back to the beginning a few times but I was completely engrossed in the world that Maas has created. I cannot wait until the next book!

My star rating is irrelevant b/c I haven’t finished the book. After reading Maas’s court series I was super excited to read more. I went for this one and barely into it, I’m confused. The intro pages are poorly written with massive info dumps that feel really unskilled, the tone is still very much YA, at about a sixth grade reading level, the characters are YA age, just out of college...so how is this an adult book? I couldn’t get through the beginning. Not wanting to give up on her b/c of how much I loved her other books, I decided to shift over to her actual YA Thrones series. Immediately, the writing and story were much better. And what I was familiar with. It’s almost as if someone else wrote this. It’s weird.

Wow. This book far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t stand Bryce at the beginning, but her reading her story and person unfold was beyond amazing. Hunt was my favorite from the beginning. I hope we get more of his story in the following books since the book ended bringing it up his father. ANYWAYS, great book. It starts off a bit slow but man does it make up for it afterwards. If you want a book that will surprise you over and over again then this is for you. It’s been so long since I picked up a fantasy fiction book years probably, I decided for my first one in a long time to be the one with the best reviews. And oh my god I was not disappointed. I was picturing vivid movie scenes in my head while reading this book, I was invested in the story and the mystery, and I found joy in guessing or trying to figure out foreshadowed events and being proven right and being proven wrong. This book will throw triple plot twists your way, it’ll fill you with joy and rip your heart out. I’m excited for the sequel. This is a must read, the price is worth it. And as someone who isn’t a big lovey dovey Romance fan I can say that this romance was well earned, but I truly don’t think this is a romance book. No this book is a love letter to the amazing love bond of friendship. What a wonderful emotional trip this book will take you on. Safe travels.

When I first started the book it was hard to get into, but after making it past the first part I realized she meant for the reader to be confused because that’s how the main character was. Lost and didn’t have her priorities straight. It made me appreciate the author more. After I finished the e-book on iTunes, I had to buy the physical copy as well because I was so excited to share it with my friends and family because this book is a perfect introduction into how amazing this author is. Every time they read this book they always ask “what else has she written” and are hooked. It is 100% worth the buy and I am so happy I spent the money twice on this book. Be forewarned it ruins all other writers and authors after you read her novels because she is in a league of her own. I have read every book she has written and her character development and writing style is so vivid and unique I feel like I lived the story when I finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has never read her other series. I really hope she continues this story but I am also extremely satisfied with how it concluded. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

There is definitely some steamy content but hey its SJM first adult book and she went full send. it was hot and the characters were so well developed.the story line was dexhilerating and original. Maas is my favorite. Might be a bold statement but I’m ok with that. Nevertheless, this book doesn’t catch you as quickly as the others. I wasn’t aware it was adult and the cussing that clued me in was a bit cringey. However, I think Maas has a way of making women complex and dynamic that is alway delightful. The beginning is slow, (the first third). I won’t say it’s not. The last two thirds are verrry very good. It’s worth reading if you are of age. I’m interested enough in what is too come. PS: my only other disappointment is that I think Maas is one of the few authors making the fae interesting/centering them so I would have loved more emphasis on them but that’s ok!

I love reading Maas, this book is really good but not her best. I felt like the language didn’t have to be quite so bad. I get what she was going for, but it felt excessive. As I read through the book I kept thinking “this book is ok but I wouldn’t read the second”, but then the last eighth of the book came alive and I couldn’t put it down. I love her ability to describe and grow characters, it always draws me in.

I love Sara J Mass and I don’t think she’s ever written a book I don’t like, but I loved this one!! Everything about it. Bryce is probably my favorite character from her books now. I never got bored with the plot, and the ending surprised me 100%. There was a bit of an info overload at the beginning but I’m very glad for it. It normally takes me awhile to get through the beginning of books because they’re slow to start, but this was not the case with HOEAB!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

Possibly Maas’s best!

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

One of the best books I’ve ever read. Honestly, I loved her other series so much I was almost scared to start a new one, afraid I wouldn’t like it as much. So happy with how WRONG I was! I can’t wait until the next book comes out!

AMAZING!!!

I’m a big Maas fan and I must admit it does start slowly but whew keep reading!! Those last 30 chapters absolutely blew my mind!!! Crescent City was truly amazing and I can’t wait for a sequel (hopefully soon). Love love love it!

I absolutely devoured this book. It was amazing! There was always something just around the corner and I was constantly on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Highly recommend and can’t sit for the rest of the series.

Best book I’ve read in a long time

Having just finished the Court of Thorns and Roses series, I went right into this. So good. Couldn’t put it down. My family complained for the 4 days it took me to finish that they were tired of being ignored. I didn’t care.

Epic page-turner!

This book has everything! (Queuing Stefon from SNL 😄) There is mystery, suspense, humor, a courageous leading woman, HOT leading man, and romance! I devoured this book in a matter of days. READ IT! You’ll love it, too!

This was an incredible read. I enjoyed every second. The characters are lovable, the dialogue has you constantly laughing, and there are many plot-twists you didn’t see coming. Maas did it again, I would highly recommend ❤️

I expected so much more

The whole first half of the book was hard to read as a long time SJM fan. It was boring in the beginning and felt like filler. I was utterly disappointed with the main love interest. It read forced by the author and the characters don’t belong. They are better suited as friends. Also the main character shows to be weak in personality and dumb which I never expected from a SJM novel. Will I read the next book? Yes. Only because I want a new love interest and a whole lot more character development. Don’t let me down again. Please.

Rainy Day Read

A book to snuggle in with on a rainy day. The Good: Some beautiful and kickass friendships, a powerful and satisfying main character arc, strong secondary character growth, witty dialogue, an exciting climax, and an imaginative world. The prose is also quite touching at times. The Bad: A poorly executed opening, a weak main opponent, monologuing by the main opponent at the climax, and a too-neat ending. I also was not a fan of the main romantic pairing. In my opinion, they were better suited as friends.

Possibly Maas’s best!

To be honest, I had to re-read the first chapter a few times. Maybe because I kept comparing to Maas’s other works, or maybe it starts a little slow, but Once I just accepted that this is completely different, and got about 20 pages in, I found the plot quickly picks up and I couldn’t put the book down. I laughed out loud, and I cried more than once. The ending chapters are amazing. I didn’t think it was possible but I liked it more than Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Calena Sardothian series!

Her best work yet

I’ve read every single one of Sarah J Maas’ works of art (because that’s what her books are; art) and it’s still easy for me to say that is her best work yet. I’ve never ever been moved to tears by a book, and I certainly never expected a book about shape shifters, angels, and fae to be the one to do it. But it just goes to show the true amount of love that she poured into this book. The coming installments of this series will be HEAVILY anticipated.
